I love, love, love, love, love Laura Vitale! I have used many of her recipes in the past and none of them have failed me so far (knock on wood), so I can't wait to try out even more recipes in this book! :-) Typically, her instructions are very easy to follow and that's the part I love the most. This is the cookbook from Laura Vitale, the host of "Laura in the Kitchen", a very popular cooking YouTube channel with over a million subscribers and about to reach 1000 recipes. Pros:
- I've done a lot of her recipes and I can confirm the majority of them as excellent.
- High quality pictures
- The book is also very well made.
Cons:
- I felt like a quarter of the book are pasta recipes. But then again, it is an american/italian cookbook.
- Maybe more seasonal recipes or some for events ( Thanksg
This is the cookbook from Laura Vitale, the host of "Laura in the Kitchen", a very popular cooking YouTube channel with over a million subscribers and about to reach 1000 recipes. Pros:
- I've done a lot of her recipes and I can confirm the majority of them as excellent.

While Italian isn't my favorite cuisine, I do enjoy it, and there's nothing like a plate of pasta with a spicy tomato sauce on a cool night. (With wine, of course) "Laura in the Kitchen" by Laura Vitale presents recipes meant to be easy for the home cook, quick to prepare on weeknights, taking a little longer on weekends, but none of them hard to make or requiring obscure ingredients. The dishes are of a variety of cuisines: Italian, Italian-American ("Bring on the cheese!"), and a smattering of While Italian isn't my favorite cuisine, I do enjoy it, and there's nothing like a plate of pasta with a spicy tomato sauce on a cool night. I haven't made them all, but I particularly liked the "sauteed garlic & lemon zucchini, " a very tasty side dish. I'll have to toss it with pasta as the author suggests.I also like her writing style: Laura doesn't waste time with her philosophy of cooking, unlike some celebrity chefs who've let their egos get away with them. Instead, there's a brief introduction, the obligatory pantry-stocking pages, and then it's "Let's get cooking!" This is a book by a woman living her dream and happy to share it with us. Highly recommended.

Let me be upfront and admit that I have been watching Laura in the Kitchen on YouTube for quite some time and she is one of my favorite "go to" cooking shows when I am looking for a specific recipe! I am a visual learner, so I require pictures in my cookbooks (which this one has for almost every recipe) and I find that I am more confident in the kitchen if I can watch a dish being prepared rather than just trying to decipher what a printed recipe is trying to say! Yes, I try to stay away from pasta... but, I LOVE it, so that is one battle I lose on a regular basis! ;p
I will admit to a few changes that I have made in a couple of her recipes because I will NOT eat mushrooms or olives... but other than that, every recipe I have tried from her cookbook has worked well for me and my husband will eat anything you set in front of him! *grin*
Side note: I stand corrected... my husband REFUSES to eat sweet potatoes... one of my favorite foods! Go figure! *headdesk* LOL!!!

I found myself drawn to the desserts & cookies section most. The dinner section (not the quick meals), was also delightful, similar to what you would see on her YT channel but more elevated it seems. I am giving this cookbook 4 stars because the photography was lacking a little colour and oomf. This is my favorite cookbook. Exactly what I was expecting and then some! Traditional Italian recipes, American, desserts, etc. I love the little snippets she puts in for each one. Makes me feel like a family member is talking to me while I'm cooking. I have a YouTube channel called RecipesTested and have uploaded many recipes from this book and they have never disappointed me.
